Improve your Resume, Improve Your Message

Have you applied for alternate opportunities within your Company? What does your resume say to the hiring manager? Are you qualified but not getting to the interview phase?

 In this session, we will explore specific examples from project management resumes and highlight how interpretation of statements on a resume compares with the requirements for the position. What message do you convey when detailing your prior experience? Are you looking to move from an operational role into a project management role or considering applying for volunteer positions within our PMI Chapter? How can you effectively restructure your resume using the experience you already have? The goal of this interactive presentation is to provide perspective and tips that you can apply to your own resume.

About our Presenter - Deb DeLacy

Debora DeLacy is the Vice President of Education for the Central Florida Chapter and has been a member of the board for the past 5 years focusing on Education and Certification. Debora is currently employed by The Newport Group in Heathrow FL managing IT Software Projects and has worked as both an internal and external Project Manager as well as IT Management, Client Services and Client Relationship Management. She has screened and interviewed many project managers and has provided feedback to Chapter members on their resumes. She has an understanding of the message a resume conveys and an appreciation of what it takes to clarify your message. Debora is also a long time member of Toastmasters International holding leadership roles in Florida and New York.

PMP PREP CERTIFICATION COURSE / PMP REFRESHER COURSE

PMBOK® - FOURTH EDITION

We are excited to announce the next offering of our PMP Prep Certification Course / PMP Refresher Course for the PMBOK® - Fourth Edition. This will be the last class offered for the PMBOK Fourth Edition material and allow the students one month to take the PMP exam before the exam changes to the Fifth Edition material. Students taking the course to prepare for their certification exam will earn 27 contact hours, which can be used to help qualify towards their educational requirements. Students taking the course as a refresher will earn 27 PDUs.

The purpose of this new course is to prepare the experienced project manager to take the PMI PMP Certification Exam, and to provide the certified PMP a review of PMI concepts from the PMBOK® Fourth Edition Edition. The target audience is project managers seeking PMP certification, and project managers with a PMP seeking a refresher course as well as a way to earn additional PDUs.

The course length is 27 hours of instruction over three Saturdays at 9 hours per day. Each Saturday begins with student sign-in at 7:30am and includes a light breakfast. Classes begin at 8am and ends at 5pm (includes a working lunch). The next course date is scheduled for June 15, 22, and 29, 2013.

The fees for these courses are:

PMP Prep Certification Course - $600

PMP Refresher Course - $300

Chapter Guest Pass Program

We are offering a Free Guest Pass for individuals that are already PMI members but not yet members of the chapter to recognize the value and benefits of chapter membership. The program is meant to introduce PMI members, who are not chapter members, with an opportunity to join a chapter for the remainder of their PMI membership. In order to participate in the program, the following criteria must be met:

1) The prospective participant member must be a PMI member in good standing.  (PMI members in good standing have paid their PMI membership dues).

3) The Chapter Guest Pass is valid for one time use from the point of initiation through the end of the member’s current PMI membership cycle.

4) The participant in the program is responsible for participating in, and attending, local chapter events such as the Bi-Monthly meeting, Networking Events, Symposium, and Lunch and Learn Event to benefit and value the delivery of core services by the chapter.

5) On 15 May 2012 and 15 December 2012, and yearly thereafter, each participant will be required to complete an analysis of the program to provide feedback for assessment of the Chapter Guest Pass Program. Additional instructions for collecting feedback will be provided in the future.
