The Past President's Letter—May, 2010

Dear Fellow PMICFC Members,

It is with great regret that I have to inform you that I must resign from my position as President of PMICFC, effective May 4, 2010. Personal challenges require my undivided attention at this time in my life. Out VP of Records and Special Projects, Clayton Faria, will carry-on my responsibilities as your new President in compliance with the directives set forth in our Bylaws. Clayton Faria is exceptionally qualified to lead the Board and assist in meeting the goals, objectives and realizing the vision of this great organization. Please welcome and assist him in his new role. I will assist him, as requested, in the months to come.

For the last 14 months, it has been my pleasure to serve you and to work with the Board Officers and Directors, who are a great group of professionals. The experience has afforded me the opportunity to meet executives from PMI and other members from all areas of the United States, the Caribbean, South America, Europe and Africa. The professional development acquired and the relationships fostered have been priceless.

It is my hope that the 2009-2010 strategic goals, objectives, and vision for this organization will exceed my expectations and the expectations of the Board

  • Strategic Goals include:
  • Implementing strategies that will improve members communications and services
  • Increasing and retaining members
  • Improving member educational and professional development training opportunities
  • Enhancing our community outreach efforts
  • Improving the quality of our speakers
  • Advocating PMI and PMICFC by increasing our marketing, and
  • Expanding our presence within the counties and areas that make up the PMICFC component.

Action Plans include, but are not limited to:
The Director of the PMICFC Mentoring Program is going to kick-off Mentee Training soon, so please look forward to this announcement and great opportunity.

Our Director of Scholarships will kick-off the next phase of the PMIEF scholarship application process, increase our scholarships to two, and will announce a new community outreach program with local schools in the near future.

Our Director of Corporate Sponsors will diligently work to increase the number and quality of PMICFC event sponsors and partners to enhance member services. Look for an increased effort in this area, as well as an increased effort in membership recruiting, events, and programs that will reach all areas of the PMICFC region.

As the economy continues to rebound, as industries continue to recognize the importance of Project Managers, and as educational institutes create more courses and degrees with Project Management specializations, PMICFC will grow in it membership and community presence.

As your now, Past President, I will continue to offer any services I can to assist you in anyway possible to see this reality. Thank you for the experience and I hope to see you at the June dinner meeting.

Sincerely,
Vanessa Brown PhD, PMP
PMICFC Past-President
